How DARE You Question Me!

Note to self: questioning an order in the name of ensuring good patient care. earns the ire of the ordering doctor.

If my first concern wasn’t overall patient safety, I’d let some of them suffer the full consequences of their actions. However, no matter how pissed off I might be with either party, I will do my best to protect the patient.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have massive egos to tiptoe around…

  1. Unfortunately, pairing a size 12 ego and a size 6 database is not confined to the medical profession but is also rampant in politics (see Bloomberg).
    You did what you had to. Either (s)he’ll pay more attention to your input in the future or you will be a too-tall nail and (s)he’s got a hammer….
    But the patient was spared.

  2. Kick em in the balls and get em down to your level, then EXPLAIN to them that your concern is the patient, NOT their ego… :-D
